Brain-type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP) is a nonglycosylated peptide primarily produced by ventricular myocytes and belongs to the natriuretic peptide family. The proteolytic cleavage of the 12 kDa BNP precursor results in N-terminal Pro BNP (NT-proBNP) and mature BNP. N-terminal proB-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) is a useful marker for heart failure (HF) and is thought to be secreted mainly from the ventricle. Elevated serum NT-proBNP levels are also observed in conditions such as atrial fibrillation (AF) and atrial septal defect in patients without HF.

Mouse NT-proBNP ELISA Kit - This kit is an ELISA for measuring NT-proBNP in serum, plasma and other biological fluids. Reagents for up to 96 tests.The plate provided in this Kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Mouse NT-proBNP. Samples (or Standards) are added to the plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Mouse NT-proBNP and Avidin-HRP conjugate are added successively to each micro plate well and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Mouse NT-proBNP, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The reaction is terminated by the stop solution and it turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 2 nm. The OD is proportional to the concentration of Mouse NT-proBNP. Calculate concentration by comparing the OD to the standard curve.
